Irvine Valley sophomore women's volleyball players Megan Ramseyer and Olivia Aguilar were named All-American, All-State and All-Region this week.
In addition, IVC coach Tom Pestolesi was named the Southern California Regional Coach of the Year.
After helping Irvine Valley go undefeated, win the Orange Empire Conference title and earn a trip to this weekend's California Community College Athletic Association State Championship tournament, Pestolesi, Ramseyer Aguilar were honored.
Ramseyer and Aguilar had already been named co-Most Valuable Players of the Orange Empire Conference when awards were announced last week. Pestolesi was named coach of the year in the OEC.
The Lasers completed a perfect regular season at 22-0 and then swept Orange Coast and Grossmont in Southern California Regional Playoff matches last week to move on to the state event.
Aguilar led the conference and ranks fourth in the state at 4.56 kills per set. She was also third in the conference and ranks 15th in the state in hitting percentage at .354. She had double digit kills in all 16 conference matches. And recorded two more in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
Aguilar recorded 20 kills in a five-set win over Saddleback and also had 20 kills in a three-set win at Santa Ana.
Ramseyer ranks first in the state in assists at 11.20 per set. She had a season-best 53 assists in IVC's four-set win at Orange Coast to finish off the regular season and had 33 and 31, respectively, in Irvine Valley's two playoff victories last week.
Heading into this weekend's state event, Ramseyer is also averaging 1.96 digs per set and leads the team in services aces with 39 and has contributed 26 blocks.
Pestolesi along with his fine staff helped guide Irvine Valley to its 24-0 record so far.
The 2017 campaign was the fourth perfect regular season in IVC program history.
Pestolesi has led Irvine Valley volleyball teams to four state titles (three on the men's side and one on the women's side). IVC was undefeated in 2013 and 2014 heading into the state event and won its first state title under Pestolesi in 2014.
