Women's volleyball team breezes by Palomar

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team recorded its second straight sweep, beating Palomar, 25-18, 25-17, 25-16, Wednesday night at Palomar.

The Lasers improved their record to 3-0 on the season.

Irvine Valley is ranked No. 1 in Southern California and No. 2 in the state. Palomar was ranked No. 8 in Southern California and 14th in the state.

The Lasers were led by sophomore middle blocker Annie Mitchem, who had 10 kills, eight digs and hit .500 on the night.

Sophomore outside hitter Kobi Pekich added six kills and six digs and hit .545.

Sophomore outside hitter Marisa Doran added five kills, 10 digs and three aces.

Sophomore opposite Shaelyn Perez and freshman middle blocker Hannah Matt each added four kills.

Freshman libero Emily Reinking had four digs and sophomore libero Hailey Jones contributed two kills, three digs and 27 assists to the victory.

Irvine Valley will play again on Friday, hosting two early matches at Irvine Valley.

The Lasers will play Moorpark at 11 a.m. and then host San Diego City at 2 p.m.
