Women's basketball team ranked No. 17 in state to start season

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team begins its season under second-year head coach Jason Garey ranked No. 17 in the state and tied for ninth in Southern California in the preseason California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association State Poll.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 21-9 overall, 8-4 in the Orange Empire Conference and made a So. Cal. Regional Final.

The Lasers fell, 73-58, to eventual CCCAA state champion Orange Coast on Mar. 4, 2023 at OCC.

The Lasers start their 2023-24 year this Thursday in the Riverside Earning Our Stripes Tournament, playing Cerritos at 1 p.m.

Coach Garey is excited about the potential of this year's group.
