The Irvine Valley women's basketball team continued its strong play to begin the 2022-23 season.
The Lasers won all three of their games in the Pasadena City College Sisterhood of Champions Classic.
Irvine Valley, which made the CCCAA state semifinals last season, improved their record to 4-0.
IVC defeated MiraCosta, 45-40, on Thursday, host Pasadena City, 72-54, on Friday and Imperial Valley, 65-60, in overtime Saturday.
Freshman guard Trasara Alexander was named to the all-tournament team after having 25 points and 14 rebounds as IVC rallied to beat Imperial Valley.
Freshman guard Christen Ziska added 13 points and six rebounds and sophomore forward Giselle Martinez had seven points and four rebounds.
In Irvine Valley's opening win of the tournament over MiraCosta, Martinez led the way with 13 points. Alexander chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman guard Emily Freeman had a big second half and finished with 18 points (4 of 9 on three-pointers) and ended with 18 points and five rebounds in the Lasers' win over Pasadena City.
Sophomore guard Kennedy Pucci added 13 points, five rebounds and four steals and Martinez had 10 points and eight rebounds.
On the season, Alexander is averaging 14.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Martinez averages 10.0 points and 5.3 rebounds and Ziska is averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Irvine Valley is back in action on Wednesday, playing its first home game of the season. The Lasers take on Citrus as part of the El Camino Crossover at 5 p.m. Citrus has a record of 2-2 overall.
