Men's volleyball team is seeded sixth in upcoming playoffs

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team has been seeded sixth in the upcoming 3C2A State Championship postseason.

The Lasers, who finished with a record of 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the Orange Empire Conference, will play a first-round regional match at No. 3 San Diego Mesa on Friday at 6 p.m.

IVC finished the regular season on sophomore night at home last Friday, falling to No. 1 and undefeated Orange Coast, 25-15, 25-19, 25-12, at home.

Freshman middle blocker Drake Goering finished with seven kills for the Lasers. IVC also got five kills and three blocks from sophomore opposite Zach McEntire and 10 assists from freshman setter and opposite Grant Dvorak.

Irvine Valley played Mesa earlier this season and lost in three sets, 25-18, 25-15, 29-27 at Mesa.
