No. 4 men's volleyball team bounces back with sweep of Hawks

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team suffered two rough losses last week to Orange Empire Conference rivals, falling in five sets to both No. 1 Orange Coast and No. 2 Golden West.

But the Lasers bounced back on Wednesday with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-21 sweep over Santiago Canyon on the road.

It was IVC's 10th win of the season and moved their record to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference. Irvine Valley moved into a tie for second place in the OEC with Golden West.

Irvine Valley had two players with at least 10 kills in the match. Freshman outside hitter Zach McEntire finished with 13 kills and hit .345 on the night. McEntire added seven digs and two blocks.

Sophomore opposite Matt Reid had 10 kills and seven digs for the Lasers.

Freshman setter Yashar Khamenian ran the offense with 28 assists and seven digs and freshman libero Domenic Marquez contributed a team-high 10 digs.

The Lasers play again on Friday at home, hosting Fullerton at 6 p.m.
