Men's volleyball team drops four-set match to NAIA Saint Xavier

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team took on a new opponent on Friday afternoon at home.

The Lasers, ranked No. 4 in the state in the latest coaches state poll, took on NAIA Saint Xavier University.

The university is based in Chicago and is in Southern California and has already taken on Vanguard and The Master's. It still has a match with NCAA Division I Concordia in Irvine. Saint Xavier is one one the top-10 teams in the nation in the NAIA.

This was Irvine Valley's third home match of the week. IVC's record went to 6-3 overall.

The Lasers hit just .145 against Saint Xavier. 

Sophomore outside hitter Damon Kooiman finished with six kills and sophomore outside hitter Jared Irwin added five kills, two aces and five digs.

Freshman setter Grant Dvorak had four kills and 13 assists and freshman middle blocker Grant Doering contributed six blocks for the Lasers.

IVC is back in action in a big Orange Empire Conference match next Wednesday at Golden West, which is ranked No. 2 in the state.
