Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team started the season with two straight wins, but saw its record slip to 2-2 overall after a pair of losses on the road last week.
The Lasers lost at Moorpark, 25-17, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, on Wednesday night. IVC was led by freshman setter Grant Dvorak and sophomore outside hitter Matt Reid.
Dvorak finished with 10 kills and hit .500. He also added 19 assists and six digs. Reid also had 10 kills and six digs and finished with two blocks.
Freshman libero Domenic Marquez contributed 10 digs and sophomore libero Jeremy Simon had nine digs for the Lasers.
Freshman middle blocker Drake Goering ended with five kills and four blocks.
Irvine Valley then went on the road to Santa Barbara City on Friday, but the Lasers were swept.
IVC played tough in the first set, but the Vaquers pulled out the frame, 29-27.
Santa Barbara City then went on to take the next two sets, 25-15, and 25-18.
Dvorak led the way again for IVC with 11 kills and 15 assists. Reid chipped in eight kills, Marquez had eight digs and sophomore setter Nick Hinker finished with 15 assists.
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday, hosting its first match of the season against Santa Monica at 6 p.m.
