The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team started its season with two wins on Saturday at the Orange Coast Crossover event.
The Lasers defeated Long Beach City in the first match, 24-26, 25-19, 24-26, 26-24, 15-10.
Sophomore outside hitter Matt Reid led the way with 16 kills and hit .714 in the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Damon Kooiman ended with 15 kills, hit .308 and ended with six digs. He scored 19.0 points in the contest.
Freshman setter Grant Dvorak shined with eight kills, 27 assists and seven digs.
IVC freshan libero Domenic Marquez ended with eight digs in the win.
The Lasers then went on to sweep El Camino, 27-25, 25-21, 25-20 in the afternoon at Orange Coast.
IVC hit .338 as a team in the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Zach McEntire finished with 10 kills, Kooiman had nine kills and Reid ended with seven kills.
Dvorak ran the offense with 22 assists and added four kills.
Irvine Valley plays again on Wednesday at Moorpark at 5 p.m.
