The Lasers, guided by Rory Jones, were ranked No. 1 for a good part of the season.

The team finished with an overall record of 16-3 overall and went 7-1 in the Orange Empire Conference.

IVC shared the OEC championship with Orange Coast.

The Lasers then reached the California Community College Athletic Association state semifinals.

Irvine Valley won its first five matches of the season and later had a seven-match win streak.

The team's only losses were to San Diego Mesa (in five sets), Orange Coast (in three sets) and then to Moorpark (in three sets) in the state semis.

IVC sophomore opposite Demetre Gossett was named co-most valuable player in the conference. Sophomore libero Adam Schulte and freshman setter Kaina Alvarez were each picked first team and sophomore middle blocker Julio Gutierrez and freshman outside hitter Damon Kooiman were selected to the second team.
