Men's volleyball team's middles shine in sweep at Mesa

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team remained in the hunt for the top spot in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a sweep at San Diego Mesa on Wednesday night.

The Lasers improved their record to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 win at Mesa.

Irvine Valley sits just behind Grossmont and Orange Coast in the standings. Both of those teams have a record of 5-0.

Irvine Valley once again got solid production from its middle blockers in the win over San Diego Mesa.

Sophomore Kevin Dell had eight kills with six blocks, including four solos and also hit. 583.

Freshman Robert Ryley also finished with eight kills. He hit .727 on the night.

Collectively, Irvine Valley's middles hit .640 for the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Josh Schmidt had six kills with a hitting percentage of .3642 and contributed three blocks.

Sophomore outside hitter Cole Murray also had eight kills, sophomore libero Billy Crow finished with 10 digs, sophomore setter Arek Halaj had 16 assists and freshman setter Jake Adams finished with 14 assists.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday at home. The team hosts Golden West at 6 p.m.
