Irvine Valley has several players move on to 3C2A state event

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team had five singles players and three doubles teams advance from the Orange Empire Conference to the 3C2A State Championship on Thursday.

The conference event was limited to one day at Riverside on Thursday as heavy rain was expected on Friday.

Advancing in singles for IVC were freshmen Nick Grove, Luciano Pardo, Patrick Riggs and Lucas Torres and freshman Sufyan Ashraf.

In doubles, Irvine Valley's teams of Grove and Pardo, Torres and freshman Lucas Diaz and Riggs and sophomore Alyan Ashraf moved on.

The Lasers, ranked No. 1 in So. Cal., start the postseason next week, hosting No. 8 Bakersfield on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

The 3C2A Championship will be held in Ventura and Ojai Apr. 24-28.
