Men's tennis team blanks another conference opponent

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team moved its record to 2-0 in the Orange Empire Conference and 3-0 overall with another standout performance on Thursday.

The Lasers won at Fullerton, 9-0.

It was IVC's second straight 9-0 victory.

Irvine Valley had little trouble in any match onm the day.

In doubles, the Lasers received a default win at the No. 3 spot and then had the No. 1 team of freshmen Nick Grove and Luciano Pardo win, 8-1, and the team of freshmen Lucas Diaz and Lucas Torres come out on top, 8-2, on the second court.

In singles play, all five IVC players won in straight sets. Diaz didn't drop a game, winning, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. Grove earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory on the first court and Pardo (6-4, 6-0) at No. 2, Sufyan Ashraf (6-0, 6-2) at No. 3 and Torres (6-0, 6-2) each had easy wins.

Sophomore Alyan Ashraf picked up a victory by default at No. 6 singles for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday, hosting Saddleback in a conference match at 2 p.m.
