Men's soccer team wins third straight, shuts out LA Harbor

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team is picking up momentum as it gets ready for the Orange Empire Conference season.

The Lasers won their third match in a row, downing LA Harbor on the road, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-3-0 overall.

After losing to three of the top teams in the state to start the season on the road, IVC has defeated Rio Hondo, 2-0, Southwestern, 7-2, and Harbor, 3-0.

On Tuesday, Irvine Valley was tied with LA Harbor at the half.

But the Lasers played their best in the second half.

Irvine Valley took the lead in the 55th minute on a goal from freshman forward Martin Fabatia off an assist from an assist by sophomore midfielde Julian Svoboda.

Svoboda then gave IVC a 2-0 lead in the 70th minute with a goal off of a feed from freshman midfielder Jacob Edwards.

The Laeers finished their scoring in the 89th minute. Freshman midfielder Alejandro Gonzalez scored on a penalty kick. Freshman defender Gabriel Velasco helped set up the play.

IVC freshman keeper Tygo Steenvoorden earned the shuout and made three saves on the day.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday at San Diego Mesa at 2 p.m.
