Basketball team ends Monterey trip with loss to Diablo Valley

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team fell behind early and couldn't catch up against Diablo Valley in its final game in the 32nd Annual Monterey Bay Classic.

The Lasers lost two of three games in the event, and fell to Diablo Valley in the third-place game, 70-50, on Saturday.

Freshman wing Marcus Carter led IVC with 10 points. Freshman guard Roman Swizek added nine points and four rebounds and sophomore post player Charlie Henderson had six points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley trailed, 35-20, at the half and had to try and play catch up.

IVC shot 18 of 55 from the field (32.7 percent) overall and 3 of 18 from three point range (16.7 percent) in the game.

IVC is back in action on Friday. The Lasers host Mt. SAC at 7 p.m.
