Baseball team has two-game win streak snapped by SD Mesa

The Irvine Valley baseball team had a two-game win streak snapped on Saturday at home.

The Lasers defeated San Diego Mesa, 7-1, on Thursday, but fell to the Olympians on Saturday, 9-4.

The loss dropped Irvine Valley's record to 7-6 overall. Mesa improved to 8-4 overall.

Irvine Valley had four players record two hits each.

Freshman first baseman Jackson Snitko went 2 for 4 with a home run, double, one runs scored and two RBI.

Freshman outfielder Drew Seidel, freshman designated hitter Shaun McCaghren and sophomore catcher Jimmy Zakhar also each had two hits. Zakhar hit a solo home run.

Irvine Valley led, 3-2, after the first inning, but Mesa took the lead for good after scoring four ruins in the top of the fourth inning.

The Olympians put the game away with three more runs in the top of the sixth.

Isaiah Gomez went 3 for 5 with a run scored and three RBI to lead San Diego Mesa at the plate.

Freshman right-hander Tyler Eastham took the loss for the Lasers. His record went to 1-2 overall. Eastham went 3.2 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Freshman Zack Marker pitched the next 2.1 innings in relief for IVC. He allowed three runs (all unearned) on five hits and one walk and freshman Colin Rhee threw three scoreless innings with three strikeouts to finish up for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley is back at it on Tuesday when it hosts LA Valley at 1 p.m.
