Second baseman Nolan Cusey signs with Johnson in Tennessee

Irvine Valley sophomore baseball player Nolan Cusey has signed with Johnson University in Knoxville, Tenn.

Johnson University is an NAIA school.

Cusey, a left-handed hitter and right-handed fielder was a standout second baseman for the Lasers the past two seasons.

The former Mission Viejo High star batted .272 with 37 hits, five doubles, one home run and 23 RBI during the 2023 campaign. He also stole nine bases on the year.

Cusey had nine-multi hit games this past season, including three-hit contests at LA Valley on Feb. 28 and Mar. 24 at Riverside.

He is headed to a Johnson University squad that hired former Tennessee, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge head coach Dave Serrano.
