Alumni Report: Dobson has another solid season at Chico State

Former Irvine Valley baseball standout Kyle Dobson had another solid season with the NCAA Division II Chico State program this past year.

Chico State finished with a record of 19-25 overall last season and went 13-21 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Dobson, a junior outfielder, played in all 39 games and started 35 contests. 

He batted .298 with a .421 on base percentage. Dobson had nine multi-hit games and ended the year with 34 hits, two doubles, one triple, one home run and 13 RBI.

In 2022 at Chico State, Dobson was named second team all-West Region. He led the California Collegiate Athletic Association with a .417 batting average.

He was named second team all-West Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) after starring for the Wildcats.

He spent three years in the Laser program, earning first team all-Orange Empire Conference honors in 2019. He was named the IVC male athlete of the year in that freshman 2019 season. 

Dobson hit .395 for the Lasers in 2019 with a team-leading 62 hits, eight doubles, 23 walks and 38 RBI.

In the shortened IVC 2020 season, Dobson batted .300 with three doubles, one triple, 15 walks and 16 RBI.

The former Santa Margarita High standout hit .286 for the Lasers in 21 games in 2021 with 18 runs and 14 walks before moving on to Chico State.
