Alumni Report: Wiegman makes regional final with Campbell

Former Irvine Valley star pitcher Jeremy Wiegman and the Campbell University baseball team reached the NCAA Division I Regional Playoffs.

Campbell's season came to a close with a 16-7 loss to South Carolina in the Columbia Regional final last Sunday evening.

Campbell concluded the season with a 46-15 overall record, the second most wins in program history.

The Fighting Camels were ranked for 14 consecutive weeks, climbing as high as No. 9 in the nation.

Sunday marked the third regional final appearance in the last four seasons for Campbell, also reaching finals in 2019 and 2021.

Wiegman made 14 appearances for Campbell and had a record of 1-0 on the year. The junior right-hander threw 17.2 innings on the mound and had 17 strikeouts.

The 6-4, hard-throwing, right-hander pitched in seven contests with the Lasers during the 2021 abbreviated spring season and had 41 strikeouts in 30.2 innings. He went 1-3 on the year.

Wiegman came to IVC from D2 CCAA school Cal State San Marcos.

In 2020 at San Marcos, Weigman made six starts before the season was ended due to COVID-19.

He pitched a team-high 32.2 innings and led all starters in ERA while ranking second on the team for WHIP and strikeouts (30).

Wiegman is a 2019 graduate of Huntington Beach High. He was a two-year starting pitcher for the Oilers and helped HBHS win multiple Sunset League titles.
