Baseball players earn all-Orange Empire Conference accolades

Three Irvine Valley baseball players earned all-Orange Empire Conference honors last week.

IVC sophomore shortstop Nick Madole and freshman center fielder Shane Stafford were each selected second team all-conference and sophomore Connor Tallakson was picked as the catcher of the year at the annual coaches' meeting.

Madole batted .308 in conference action with two doubles and eight RBI. He also had a team-best .427 on base percentage in OEC play.

Overall on the year, Madole batted .279 with three doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI.

Stafford batted .322 in conference play with two doubles, one triple, eight RBI and a .437 slugging percentage. Overall, Stafford also hit .322 with 15 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 24 RBI. He also recorded 10 stolen bases and had a .526 slugging percentage.

Tallakson, who has signed with Utah Tech, was one of the best defensive catchers in So. Cal. this season. He had a .981 fielding percentage and led the conference in runners caught stealing with 24 and a RCS percentage of .436.
