Standout catcher Connor Tallakson commits to DI Utah Tech

Irvine Valley sophomore catcher Connor Tallakson has committed to NCAA Division I Utah Tech in St. George, Utah.

The former Woodbridge High standout had a solid freshman year in 2022 for the Lasers and is starring again for IVC in 2023.

During the 2022 season, Tallakson hit .343 in 31 games. He had 13 multi-hit games and ranked third on the squad in batting average.

Tallakson also scored 10 runs and had 20 RBI. He finished with six doubles and one triple as IVC finished with a record of 17-23 overall.

Tallakson had four hits in a game against Cypress and three hits against Riverside.

On the defensive side, Tallakson threw out 13 runners trying to steal.

So far this year, Tallakson has played in 16 of 17 games as the Lasers are off to a 9-7 start.

He is batting .309 with three doubles and 11 RBI. Tallakson also has a .387 on base percentage.

And Tallakson has already thrown out 12 runners trying to steal in 2023.

Utah Tech competes in the Western Athletic Conference and went 22-33 last season.
