Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team improved its record to 7-4 overall and remained in first place in the Orange Empire Conference at 6-0 with two victories on Friday in Huntington Beach.
The Lasers defeated Golden West, 4-1, and then beat host Santiago Canyon, 5-0.
In the opening match, the Lasers got wins from second, third, fourth and fifth pairs.
The duos of freshman Audrey Fowler and sophomore Natalia Brandlin, freshman Avery Bennett and sophomore Mia Bertolone, freshman Halen Kiefer and sophomore Felicia Bonus and freshmen Nikki Korneff and Alya Merson each picked up victories against Golden West.
Fowler and Brandlin (21-18, 21-9), Bennett and Bertolone (21-16, 21-14) and Kiefer and Bonus (21-9, 21-13) each won in straight sets.
Korneff and Mersin earned a 18-21, 21-13, 15-10 win on the fifth court.
Against Santiago Canyon, IVC earned a default victory on the fifth court and saw the duos of sophomores Kenzie Dews and Tessa Marocco, Fowler and Brandlin, Bertolone and Bennett and Kiefer and Bonus each earn straight-set victories.
