Women's beach volleyball player Emily Hon signs with Vanguard

Irvine Valley women's beach and indoor volleyball player Emily Hon has signed with NAIA Vanguard University to play beach volleyball.

Hon helped the IVC beach team to an Orange Empire Conference Eastern Division title and to a California Community College Athletic Association Regional Final this year.

Irvine Valley won an OEC division title with a 9-1 record.

She played primarily with Mia Bartelone on the No. 4 court for the Lasers during the 2023 spring campaign.

Hon also played for the IVC indoor team in the fall of 2022.

The squad finished with a record of 20-5 overall, won a conference title and made the second round of the CCCAA regionals.

The 6-0 outside hitter and middle blocker averaged 1.02 kills and 0.51 blocks per game for the Lasers.

She is heading to a Vanguard squad that had its best season in program history. 

Vanguard captured ithe NAIA National Championship on Apr. 22., defeating Corban in the finals in Panama City, Fla.

The Lions finished with a record of 21-5 record overall.
