Irvine Valley moved both of its pairs on to the round of 16 and the final day at the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Beach Volleyball State Championship.
The duos of sophomores Barett Nolan and Chloe Swanson and sophomore Gabi Brown and Sydney Dews each advanced after the first day on Friday at the pairs state event at West Valley College in Saratoga.
Play begins again with the round of 16 on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The top six seeded pairs teams from Southern California made their way through pool play and will be joined by the top four seeds from Northern California.
Friday was all about 32 pairs teams - 20 from SoCal and 12 from NorCal - looking to be one of the top two teams from each of the eight four-team pools to find their way to Saturday's championship action.
Seeding held true for the top seeds from each region who dominated their way through play.
Nolan and Swanson were the fifth seed from the South. They won all three of their matches on Friday in pool play.
It was a different story for Brown and Dews, who earned their way into the round of 16 by winning a three-way tie for second place in their grouping.
Brown and Dews entered the event as the No. 10 seed from the South. More details and scores to be posted on Saturday.
Saturday's action is all single-elimination.
