The pairings for the Orange Empire Conference women's beach volleyball tournament are set.
The event, featuring 36 pairs, begins Wednesday at the Laser beach courts at noon with opening rounds.
The tournament concludes on Friday at noon at Irvine Valley with the quarterfinals, semis and finals.
The top seeded team in the OEC tourney is the Irvine Valley freshmen duo of Jaclyn Sanchez and Emily Guenter.
But there are top pairs from all schools.
The other top seeds include Rachel Blair and Brisa Zapada-Reaves from Orange Coast as the No. 2 seed, the Cypress duo of Tainea Allen and Jordon Wilson at No. 3, Faith Webb and Chloe Johnson from Fullerton at No. 4 and Katie Griffin and Rachel Miller from Golden West as the fifth-seeded team.
On the year, Orange Coast had a record of 10-0 to win the Western Division of the Orange Empire Conference and went 14-0 overall. Cypress finished second in the Western Division at 7-3.
Irvine Valley finished with a record of 9-1 to capture the Eastern Division of the OEC and was 13-10 overall (nine losses to four-year schools) with Fullerton ending as the runner-up in the division at 6-4.
The top finishers from the OEC qualify to the pairs So. Cal. regional at El Camino on May 6-7 with a chance to move on to the CCCAA State event at IVC the following week.
