Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball team continued to gain more experience, facing two teams from out of the state on Saturday morning at home.
The Lasers took on NCAA Division I Nebraska and then NJCAA school St. Johns River State from Florida.
Both matches were close with Irvine Valley splitting on the day.
It played Nebraska down to the wire in the opening contest.
Irvine Valley won two matches and lost two in three sets.
The No. 2 pair of freshmen Jolie Rasmussen and Barett Nolan and the No. 5 pair of Sevilla Leuteneker and Gabi Brown each won in straight sets for IVC.
On the first court, Irvine Valley freshmen Jaclyn Sanchez and Emily Guenter lost in three sets (15-13 in the third). The freshman due of Chloe Swanson and Natalee Gray also pushed their match to three sets on the third quart.
In IVC's second match of the day, the teams of Sanchez and Guenter, freshmen Alexandra Pestolis and Kendall Fraser and Leuteneker and Brown each won matches in straight sets against St. Johns River State.
The split sent Irvine Valley's record to 5-6 overall.
The Lasers are back in action on Friday traveling to Golden West to take on the Rustlers and also NCAA Division II Concordia.
