Former star Allie Cook returns to IVC with Arizona

One of the most decorated players in Irvine Valley women's volleyball history returned to compete against the Lasers Friday.

Allie Cook performed in sand volleyball for the University of Arizona in matches against Irvine Valley and Long Beach State.

Cook was a two-year starter, all-Orange Empire Conference and all-region player for the Laser women's indoor team and also part of the No. 1 team that helped Irvine Valley to a community college state title in sand in 2013.

She was the first player at IVC to receive a sand volleyball scholarship, signing with Arizona last spring.

Cook, a junior, won both of her matches on Friday for the Wildcats. She teamed with Penina Snucka as the No. 4 team for Arizona and won a three-set match against Irvine Valley and swept Long Beach State in a match.

Arizona defeated Irvine Valley, 5-0, and lost to fifth-ranked Long Beach State, 4-1.

Arizona has a record of 6-5 in dual matches so far this season.

And Cook has a record of 6-12, playing at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions for the Wildcats.
