Irvine Valley's athletes of the week for Apr. 22 are women's sophomore beach volleyball players Tessa Marocco and Kenzie Dews.
The duo, which has been Irvine Valley's No. 1 pair all of spring of 2024, helped the Lasers to an undefeated Orange Empire Conference season last Friday with a 5-0 win over Riverside at home.
Marocco and Dews are seeded second in the upcoming OEC Pairs Championship, which starts at Irvine Valley next Wednesday at noon.
They helped Irvine Valley to a record of 15-4 overall and 14-0 in conference and a trip into the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
Marocco and Dews have a record of 15-4 on the season on the top court for Irvine Valley.
Their results the last two weeks have been sweeps over Golden West and Santiago Canyon on Apr. 12 and then defeating Riverside's top team, 21-15, 21-12, last Friday at home to complete the perfect OEC campaign for the Lasers.
