Irvine Valley's athlete of the week for Apr. 15 is freshman pitcher Colin Rhee.

The closer won a game and saved another one as the Lasers took two of three games against Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference series last week.

Rhee helped Irvine Valley improve its record to 13-21 and 4-11 in conference.

Rhee pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in IVC's 6-3 victory over Fullerton at home on Tuesday. He didn't give up a hit, walked one and had three strikeouts.

Rhee earned his fifth save of the year.

On Saturday, Rhee picked up the win, throwing three scoreless innings with one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. He moved his record to 1-1 on the year.

On the season, Rhee has made 16 appearances, thrown 32.0 innings and has a 3.09 ERA. He is averaging 10.69 strikeouts over nine innings and has given up just 11 runs this season.

Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday, opening up a three-game conference series with Golden West at 2 p.m.
