Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team won its second match in a row and fourth in the last sixth contests with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 Orange Empire Conference win over Santa Ana on Wednesday night.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 4-7 overall and 4-2 in conference.
The Lasers currently sit in tie for third place in the OEC and host Sadddleback on Friday night.
Freshman outside hitter Emma Mendel finished with 15 kills to lead the Lasers.
Sophomore outside hitter Alya Mersin added seven kills, six aces and 15 digs and freshman middle blocker Jazlynn Fu had 10 kills and one block.
Irvine Valley freshman setter Tori Esko contributed 21 assists and ten digs and freshman setter and outside hitter Dalilah Rivero finished with six kills, 17 assists, two aces and two blocks.
The Lasers hit .267 as a team in the match.
Mersin closed out the first set for the Lasers with a big kill.
Mendel and Mersin came through late with multiple kills in the second set to send IVC up two sets.
IVC won the third set with a hit out of bounds by Santa Ana.
The Lasers play again on Friday against a tough Saddleback squad at home at 6 p.m.
