Volleyball team swept by Cypress in hard-fought match

In another big, early-season, Orange Empire Conference match-up, Irvine Valley battled, but lost to Cypress, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24, at home on Wednesday night,

The Lasers had their opportunities in the first and third sets, having game points in each set.

Irvine Valley, which was ranked No. 19 in the state, had its record move to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in conference.

Cypress, ranked fifth in the state, improved to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in conference. 

Freshman outside hitter Jaclyn Sanchez led IVC with 13 kills and seven digs.

Freshman opposite Jayli Nealy had seven kills, freshman outside hitter Emily Guenter finished with five kills and eight digs.

And freshman setter Maddie Harkey had 34 assists.

Irvine Valley plays in another OEC match on Friday at Santa Ana at 6 p.m.
