Volleyball player Renata Bath selected all-state, All-American

Irvine Valley sophomore women's volleyball player Renata Bath has added to her list of accomplishments for the 2018 season.

It was announced this week that Bath, who was already co-Most Valuable Player of the Orange Empire Conference, has been named All-State by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association and second team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Bath, who plays the libero position, has helped Irvine Valley to a record of 20-1 overall, a 13-1 mark in the Orange Empire Conference and OEC title and a trip to the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship.

The state tournament begins on Friday at Solano College in Fairfield with Irvine Valley, the top seed from Southern California taking on the fourth seed from Northern California, West Valley on Friday at 10 a.m.

The semifinals of the event are on Saturday with the state title match on Sunday.

Bath has made things easier for the Lasers all season long with her ball control.

She has a team-leading 250 digs and is averaging 3.68 digs per set.

Bath ranked fifth in the Orange Empire Conference in digs per set at 3.58 during the regular season.

She's had and had 10 digs or more in 16 of IVC's 21 matches so far, including recording at least 12 digs in the Lasers' last eight contests.

Bath recorded a season-high 19 digs in Irvine Valley's four-set win over Riverside on Oct. 5

In a first-round playoff sweep of Pasadena City, Bath finished with 16 digs and in a sweep of Ventura in the second round, which propelled IVC to the state tournament, she had 12 digs.

Bath was a part of Irvine Valley's 27-0 state championship team in 2017 and also made the state tournament in beach volleyball this past spring with the Lasers.
