Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team will try to stay undefeated on the year and win its 41st match in a row dating back to the start of the 2017 season when it plays host to Golden West Friday night at 6 p.m. in Hart Gymnasium in the program's annual Dig Pink Night.
The match is in support of the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer awareness and treatment.
Admission price is $5 and includes a raffle ticket for prizes that will be given out throughout the match.
Irvine Valley, ranked No. 1 in the state, moved to 13-0 on and 9-0 in the Orange Empire Conference with one of its better performances of the season on Wednesday.
IVC started the second round of conference action with a dominating 25-12, 25-8, 25-20 win at Saddleback.
It was the team's 11th sweep of the year.
Irvine Valley has dropped just four sets overall this season (39-4 in sets).
The Lasers hit .424 on the night as a team at Saddleback.
Sophomore outside hitter Lea Kruse led with 12 kills and hit .391.
Freshman middle blocker Kristin Austin finished with eight kills, three blocks and hit .636, sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni added five kills and three aces, freshman outside hitter Alaina Gendale had five kills, eight digs and hit .714 and sophomore middle blocker Kylie Miller ended with four kills, five blocks and hit .500.
Sophomore libero Renata Bath contributed seven digs and setter Truth Hafey ended the night with 27 assists, six digs and two aces.
Kruse is fourth in the conference in kills per set at 3.19 and ranks fourth in hitting percentage at .310.
Vortouni ranks fifth kills per set at 3.07 and is second in hitting percentage at .359.
Hafey is first in the OEC in assists per set at 11.00 and ranks second in the state.
And IVC ranks first in the state in kills per set (13.33) and is second in the state in team hitting percentage at .335, trailing only Columbia (.384).
Golden West has a record of 4-10 overall and 2-7 in the OEC after beating Santiago Canyon, at home on Wednesday.
It was the second time this season that Golden West defeated the Hawks.
The Rustlers are paced by Madison Holmes, who averages 1.84 kills and 1.96 digs per set, Holly Hennessy, who averages 1.54 kills and 1.26 digs per set and Abigail Botana, who averages 1.18 kills and 1.26 digs per set.
Mia Lara averages 1.83 digs per set and leads the team in aces with 14.
Megan Brazleton handles the setting duties and is a averaging 8.00 assists per set for the Rustlers.
