Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team continued to shine to start its 2018 campaign.
The Lasers swept their third straight opponent and improved their record to 3-0 with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-5 victory over Miramar on Friday at home.
Irvine Valley had already beat Long Beach City and Canyons in three straight sets to begin the year.
IVC won the first 10 points in the opening set and never looked back.
Freshman outside hitter Gabriela Griego got the Lasers to set point in the first set and then Miramar hit out to end it.
Irvine Valley cruised in the next two sets.
The Lasers were balanced again on offense.
Freshman middle blocker Kristin Austin led the way with eight kills. She hit .727 on the night and added a block.
Freshman outside hitter Lea Kruse and sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni each ended with seven kills. Kruse chipped in 10 digs and three aces.
Freshman outside hitter Garbiela Griego added six kills and freshman outside hitter Alaina Gendale contributed four kilsl in the win.
Sophomore libero Renata Bath and Gendale each finished with five digs. Freshman defensive specialist Anna Unke had three aces and freshman setter Truth Hafey ended up with 33 assists.
The Lasers play again next Wednesday, traveling to Palomar for a 5 p.m. contest. IVC then opens Orange Empire Conference play next Friday at home against Saddleback at 6 p.m.
