The Irvine Valley women's soccer team turned in one of its most impressive performances of the season, defeating Golden West, 3-1, in an Orange Empire Conference match in its fina regular season game of the season in the rain on the artificial turf inside LeBard Stadium at Orange Coast College.
The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 11-9-1 overall and 5-8-1 in conference. The Lasers finished fifth in the standings in the conference.
Irvine Valley scored all three of its goals within in the first 30 minutes and the damage was done early by freshman midfielder Bella Vaglienty.
The left-footed sharp shooter hit two free kicks from nearly the same spot (30 to 35 yards out) for goals. Both strikes went into the upper right corner, beating Golden West's keeper in the 15th and 29th minutes.
The second goal by Vaglienty gave IVC a 3-0 lead.
In between both of her goals, Irvine Valley scored its second goal of the game in the 25th minute when sophomore forward Kuuipo Laumatia headed in a cross from sophomore forward Nikki MacDonald.
It was Laumatia's team-leading 17th goal of the season. She also had five assists for a total of 39 points during the regular season.
IVC ended up with nine shots on the afternoon, including eight on goal.
And sophomore goalie Joanna Valdez made three saves in goal.
