Irvine Valley's women's soccer team out-shot Santa Ana, 24-4, and scored a 3-0 Orange Empire Conference win over Santa Ana at home on Friday.
IVC improved its record to 9-8-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the OEC and stayed in the So. Cal. playoff hunt.
The Lasers starte their scoring three minutes in with a ball sent in from the right side. Sophomore forward Kuuipo Laumatia got her head on it and send it in front of the net where freshman forward Paige Shanhan knocked it in.
IVC had opportunties throughout the contest, but made it a 2-0 game in the 17th minute when Laumatia scored off of a cross from sophomore forward Nikki MacDonald.
Irvine Valley later had chances from Salma Ashami, Izzy Rodriguez, Laumatia, MacDonald, Shanahan and others.
But IVC put the game away in the 73rd minute when MacDonald scored off of a corner kick by sophomore forward Megan Beal.
Irvine Valley sophomore goalie Joanna Valdez had to make just one save in earning the clean sheet.
IVC has an important week next week with playing at some of the best teams in the state. IVC is at Cypress on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and then plays host to Santiago Canyon on Friday at 3 p.m.
