Women's golf team sweeps through first conference match

Irvine Valley women's golf team swept the field and picked up four victories in the first Orange Empire Conference match of the season on Wednesday at Royal Vista Golf Club in Walnut.

The match was hosted by Fullerton.

Irvine Valley finished with a four-player team score of 341 to edge Saddleback (345) for first.

Mt. SAC was next at 360, Fullerton came in fourth at 371 and Orange Coast was fifth with a score of 418.

Irvine Valley earned four wins on the day.

Fullerton's Kaylee Jeon was the medalist with a score of 78.

But Irvine Valley freshman Kylie Sok was right behind her with a score of 79.

And the rest of IVC's lineup also played well. Freshman Vera Yuan finished at 83, sophomore Akie Sannomiya carded 88 and sophomore Esther Kim finished at 91.

Irvine Valley plays another conference match next Wednesday at Mesa Linda in Costa Mesa. Orange Coast is the host school.
