The Irvine Valley women's golf team continues to improve as the season winds down.
The Lasers picked up another seven wins in an Orange Empire Conference match on Monday and moved closer to College of the Desert in the process.
Irvine Valley finished with a four-player team score of 313, which was just two shots behind unbeaten College of the Desert at Woods Valley Golf Course in Valley Center.
It was the closest Irvine Valley, which has a firm hold of second place in conference, has been to top-ranked Desert this season.
The Woods Valley Golf Course is also the site of next week's two-day conference finals.
"I am pleased with the team's progress," IVC coach Ben Burnett said after the match. "This was the first time we have seen or played this (Woods Valley) course."
In what is becoming a common scene, IVC's top two players shared medalist honors in the match.
Sophomore Cindy Dang used three birdies, 12 pars, one bogey and two double bogeys for her 2 over par score of 74.
Sophomore Leleaga Meredith had 16 pars and two bogeys for her score of 74.
Meredith has been the medalist for the last three matches. She has shared medalist honors with Dang in the last two contests.
Freshman Rebecca Peng used two birdies, 11 pars, three bogeys and two double bogeys to score 5 over par 77 for the Lasers in the match.
Freshman Stuti Mandal's score of 88 completed the IVC team score of 313. Mandal had six pars, eight bogeys and four double bogeys.
Freshman Rachel Watson scored 98 and freshman Liliana Gutierrez, who has been battling a wrist injury, scored 101 for IVC.
The conference finals are next Monday and Wednesday at Woods Valley. Each day will start at 9:30 a.m.
