Irvine Valley's women's golf team earned a record of 7-1 for the fourth time in six Orange Empire Conference matches on Wednesday.
The Lasers shot a team score of 330 to place second in the event at the Sycuan Golf Resort in El Cajon. The match was hosted by Cuyamaca.
Irvine Valley improved its conference record to 39-9. The Lasers remained four wins ahead of Fullerton for second place.
College of the Desert won the match with a team score of 316. IVC was next at 330, Fullerton placed third at 338, Fullerton was fourth at 342 and Palomar took fifth at 345 in the nine-team field.
The Lasers had the medalist on the day.
Sophomore Cindy Dang, who was an all-conference player and made the state tournament as an individual a year ago, shot a 3 over par 75 at Sycuan to take low score honors.
It was the second time an IVC player has earned medalist honors in a conference match this season.
The 75 was the first time Dang had shot in the 70's this year for Irvine Valley. He previous low was 80 in the first conference match of the season at Woodhaven.
Dang edged College of the Desert's Fumika Matsumoto by one stroke and College of the Desert's Samantha Stewart, Saddleback's Rina Tomihari and Mt. SAC's Sarah Juelch by two strokes each in the match.
The 88 by Gutierrez tied her season-best.
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday in a conference match at Arroyo Trabuco in Mission Viejo. The match hosted by Saddleback, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
