Women's golf team takes fifth at San Clemente match

Irvine Valley's women's golf team remained in fifth-place in the Orange Empire Conference standings after finishing fifth in the latest conference match.

The Lasers ended up with a four-player team score of 358 at the match, which was held on Wednesday at San Clemente Golf Club.

Palomar won the match with a score of 325, Fullerton was second at 340, Saddleback was third at 349 and Mt. San Jacinto came in fourth with a score of 354.

Irvine Valley finished ahead of Desert (376), Cuyamaca (415) and Mt. SAC (no team score).

With one regular season match left, Irvine Valley has a record of 27-29 in conference.

Palomar is 55-1, Fullerton is 47-9, Saddleback is 38-18 and College of the Desert is 30-26.

The top four teams are expected to move on to the Southern California Regionals.

On Wednesday, IVC was led by freshman Cindy Dang, who finished with a score of 81. It was Dang's second-straight score of 81 in a conference match.

Palomar's Jen Goh was the medalist at San Clemente with a score of 75.

Freshman Leleaga Meredith had a score of 83 for the Lasers.

Meredith is currently third in the conference scoring average with an average of 77.3 strokes per 18 holes.

Irvine Valley's third player was freshman Nayoung Kim, who came in at 93. Freshman Kimberly Richardson rounded out the team's scoring at 101.

Irvine Valley plays again next Monday when it travels to Twin Oaks for a conference match hosted by Palomar.
