Men's volleyball team sweeps Grossmont for sixth win in a row

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team continued to roll, winning its sixth match in a row.

The Lasers swept Grossmont, 25-10, 25-22, 25-20, Friday night on the road.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 10-2 overall and now heads into Orange Empire Conference play.

IVC starts OEC action with a match at Santiago Canyon next Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then hosts Orange Coast next Friday at home in a match featuring two of the top squads in the state at 6 p.m.

Irvine Valley had plenty of players contribute on Friday night.

Freshman outside hitter Karl Stenlund led the way with 11 kills, three digs, two blocks and three aces. He hit .550 on the night with only one error in 20 attempts.

Freshman outside hitter Josh Beymer had a night with eight kills in nine attempts. He also added five block assists for the Lasers.

Freshman opposite Caden Perkins finished with five kills, three digs and five blocks and freshman outside hitter JT Demure chipped in six kills, five digs and two blocks.

Freshman setter Donovan Gudino ran the Laser offense with 26 asssists and also had four digs. Freshman Andrew Perez contributed six assists and two digs.

Irvine Valley hit .368 as a team.
