Irvine Valley freshman men's volleyball player Grant Marocchi has signed with NCAA Division I and defending national champion Long Beach State for the 2020 season.

The 6-7 Marocchi is a standout middle blocker out of Dana Hills High that has also starred for the 949 Athletics volleyball club.

He helped led Dana Hills to league title in 2015.

At Dana Hills, Marocchi was named South Coast All-League and took home the MVP award following the Redondo Union Tournament.

Marocchi and the Lasers will start their 2019 season in late January.

Long Beach State coach Alan Knipe is excited to have Marocchi on board for 2020.

"Grant has great size and athleticism which will help our offense, and block and defense," Knipe said in a release on the Long Beach State website. "His highly competitive attitude and leadership will be a great asset."
