Irvine Valley's men's tennis team earned another impressive win Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Lasers, ranked No. 1 in Southern California and the defending state champions, beat San Diego Mesa, 9-0.
It was IVC's fifth victory in a row. Irvine Valley improved its record to 5-1 overall.
The Lasers only loss came in the season opener to nationally-ranked San Diego Christian, 5-4, on the road.
On Tuesday, Irvine Valley won all three doubles matches to start.
The team of sophomore Sam Cohen and freshman Javier Callejo won, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot.
Sophomores Scott Paz and Flavien Raveau picked up a 8-3 victory at the second position.
And the team of sophomore Bruno Figlia and freshman Juan Navarro won, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.
IVC took five of the six singles matches in straight sets with Callejo, Navarro, freshman Octave Bellet, Figlia and sophomore Kevin Pham each earning victories.
Velasco only gave up two games in an easy win at No. 2 singles and Bellet only allowed three games in his triumph at No. 4 singles.
Cohen battled for a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles for the Lasers to cap the match.
He dropped the first set to San Diego Mesa's Jordan Lomas, but battled back to take the next set and then win in a 10-point tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.
Irvine Valley has now defeated both Grossmont and San Diego Mesa by scores of 9-0 and has a 8-1 win over Cerritos this season.
And the Lasers have victories over four-year schools Hope International and Concordia.
Irvine Valley plays another four-year college next when it travels to Point Loma Nazarene on Thursday.
