The Irvine Valley men's soccer team dropped a tough one on Tuesday, 3-2, at home with Golden West scoring in extra time to take a 3-2 win.
But IVC bounced back on Friday with a solid performance, blanking Orange Coast, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference match on the road.
Irvine Valley sent its record to 10-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play. The Lasers continue at the top of the table in the OEC.
They have captured 10 of their last 12 matches.
IVC out-shot Orange Coast, 15-7, in the contest and freshman keeper Sansiro Murata only had to make one save in the game.
The Lasers started the scoring in the 21st minute when freshman star defender Michael Baumgaertel found the back of the net on a header sent in off a corner kick from freshman defender Quinn Frye.
Baumgaertal contributed his fifth goal of the season.
The score with the Lasers a goal ahead into the half.
But Irvine Valley put the game out of reach six minutes into the second half when freshman forward Jonathan Minney scored off a feed from fellow freshman forward Andrew Rowland.
It was Minney's fourth goal of the year.
The defense did the rest for the Lasers as they continue to move up the power point rankings.
Irvine Valley is back in action next Tuesday at home against district rival Saddleback at 3 p.m. at home.
