Irvine Valley's men's golf team got off to a great start in its first match of the 2019 season.
The Lasers were tied for fourth after the first day of the Point Conception Open at La Purisima in Lopmoc.
Irvine Valley shot a team score of 393. Santa Barbara City's second team led at 381, Reedley was second at 383, Santa Barbara City's first team was third at 390 and Irvine Valley was tied with Palomar for fourth at 393. Cypress was one shot back for the Lasers in sixth in the 15-team field.
Irvine Valley had four players shoot in the 70's.
IVC was paced on the first day by freshman Jackson Bragg, who shot 75. Freshmen Caleb Humble and Shayne Knight each shot 77 and Dustin Vasquez carded 79.
Freshman Troy Nueva had IVC's final scoring tally, coming in a 83.
The tournament was scheduled to finish up on Monday.
