Men's golf team gets four scores in low 80's in OEC match

Irvine Valley's men's golf team competed in another Orange Empire Conference match on Monday.

IVC coach Ben Burnett said the 7,003-yard canyon lined course at Tijeras Creek was the most challenging of the season so far.

Orange Coast took first with a team score of 393. Saddleback was second with a score of 400 and was followed by Santiago Canyon at 402, Cypress at 402, Riverside at 411 and Irvine Valley with a score of 416.

For Irvine Valley, sophomores Andrew Lichty and Joe Gordon matched 41's on the front nine with 39's on the back nine for identical total scores of 80.

Lichty finished with two birdies, eight pars, six bogeys and two double bogeys, while Gordon had one birdie, 11 pars, four bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey.

Freshman Kurt Hendricks finished at 82 for his best score of the season. He had one birdie, eight pars, seven bogeys and two double bogeys.

Freshman Bruce Miranda came in at 84 with one birdie, 10 pars, three bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey, sophomore Steven Zezima had eight pars, six bogeys. two double bogeys and two quadruple bogeys for a 90 and freshman Albert Arvayo finished with six pars, seven bogeys, four double bogeys and one triple bogey for a 90.

The next conference match is March 30 at the Los Lagos portion of the Costa Mesa Course. The host is Orange Coast College.
