Men's golf team just misses first conference win

Irvine Valley's men's golf team nearly picked up its first Orange Empire Conference win of the season on Wednesday.

The Lasers finished tied with Cypress with a team score of 420 at the match hosted by Orange Coast at the Santa Ana Country Club.

Cypress earned the win because its sixth player had a lower final score.

Irvine Valley went 0-5 in the event.

Host Orange Coast won the match and picked up five victories with a team total of 377.

Irvine Valley was paced by sophomore Jed Meng, who finished at 78 on the par 72 Santa Ana course.

Sophomore Zach Chavous scored 80, freshman Mike Lorrimer came in at 85, freshman Nate Noblitt carded 87 and sophomore Zach Alcock scored 90.

Freshman Jeff Lacambra had the team's final score of 97.

Irvine Valley plays again on Monday when it travels to Victoria Country Club in Riverside for a conference match.
