Men's basketball team falls in final game of regular season

Irvine Valley's men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 79-59 Orange Empire Conference loss at Riverside on Thursday night.

But the Lasers still finished tied for fourth in the conference standings.

Thanks to Cypress falling at Santa Ana in overtime, the Lasers and Cypress tied for fourth.

IVC and the Chargers split their games in conference play.

With Thursday's defeat, Irvine Valley's record fell to 14-13 overall and 5-7 in conference.

Andy Cleaves pumped in a game-high 21 points and added a co-game-high in rebounds to pace Riverside over Irvine Valley.

Riverside clinched third place in the conference and improved its record to 21-8 overall and 8-4 in the OEC.

Brae Ivey added 15 points in a starting role and Courtney Moffatt came off the bench to add 13 points.

Freshman forward Lance Coleman II tossed in a team-high 14 points for Irvine Valley. Sophomore forward Zach Harvey added 10 points and freshman forward Parker Sims yanked down a co-game-high eight rebounds for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley now awaits to see if it can slip into the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The playoff berths will be announced on Monday.
