Irvine Valley's men's basketball team renewed its rivalry with Saddleback on Friday on the road.

Both team's had trouble scoring in what turned out to be the lowest scoring game ever between the two sides.

Saddleback defeated Irvine Valley, 44-34.

The 34 points was a program low for points in a game. IVC led Saddleback, which was ranked No. 1 in the state, 16-14, at the half, but was out-scored, 30-18, in the second half.

Saddleback came out of the half with a three-pointer from Nick Crankshaw to take its first lead of the game.

And Breaon Brady put the Gauchos ahead for good at the 16:38 mark when he made a layup for a 22-20 lead. Saddleback went on a 13-4 run to start the half.

The Lasers were coming off of one of their best wins.

IVC defeated Santa Ana on Wednesday, 93-69, at home. It was the most lopsided win for IVC this year and its most points in a game by the team this season.

But Irvine Valley shot just 31.0 percent (13 of 42) from the field as a team and was just 2 of 12 from three-point range and 6 of 15 from the free throw line in the loss to Saddleback.

Freshman forward Lance Coleman II had nine points and seven rebounds for the Lasers. It was just the second time all season that he had been held below double digits in scoring. The other time was also against Saddleback.

Sophomore guard Zuri Williams had five points and three assists and freshman guard Bekim Djokovic finished with five points for Irvine Valley.

T.J. Shorts paced Saddleback with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists and Colin Ferrier and Breaon Brady each added 10 points. Brady also had 10 rebounds.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 10-7 overall and 1-1 in conference. Saddleback improved to 16-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.
