The Irvine Valley baseball team found a way to win for the second straight day against West Los Angeles.
Irvine Valley freshman first baseman Lucas Tancas scored from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Lasers a 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon at home.
Irvine Valley had scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to win, 8-5, at West LA on Friday.
Saturday's victory, which was the third in a row for IVC, lifted the team's record to 7-2 overall.
After back-to-back hard luck losses against the Lasers, West Los Angeles' record fell to 2-5 overall.
Irvine Valley was in a hole early on Saturday. IVC trailed, 3-0, after five innings.
But the Lasers finally got on the board against West LA starting pitcher Grant Livornese in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sophomore right fielder Brett Hamilton hit an RBI triple to left center that scored freshman center fielder Dillon Millar.
A groundout by Tancas brought in Hamilton from third to make it a 3-2 game.
Irvine Valley tied the score in the bottom of the seventh inning. Freshman shortstop Jordan Gillerman, who got aboard on an error earlier in the inning, scored from third on a wild pitch.
The game remained tied into the 11th.
Tancas came up with a great piece of hitting to lead off for IVC. He dropped single into right center on a two-strike count.
Tancas then stole second base and was moved to third on a nice sacrifice bunt by sophomore third baseman Adam Vargas.
West LA then intentionally walked freshman catcher Branden Williams and Gillerman to load the bases.
But West LA reliever Manual Garcia's first pitch to IVC freshman second baseman Cory Mendoza sailed to the backstop, allowing Tancas to slide in with the winning run.
Tancas ended up going 2 for 5 with one RBI. Hamilton was 2 for 5 with one RBI for IVC, which finished with eight hits on the afternoon.
Freshman Andrew Jimenez earned the win in relief for the Lasers. He pitched a strong six innings. Jimenez didn't allow a run and only gave up two hits and one walk. He had five strikeouts.
Freshman lefty Ryan Abady started on the mound for IVC. He went five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
Brandon Bailey was 2 for 4 for West LA and Jorge Huante drove in two runs.
Irvine Valley plays again on Tuesday at home, hosting San Diego City at 2 p.m.
